What is the Celebration?

Celebration of Families is a festival that honors and celebrates family. Mothers, Fathers, Aunts, Uncles, grandmothers, grandfathers, boys and girls. All are welcome to celebrate this joyous weekend.

June 7th & 8th 2014, Oneonta Congregational Church in partnership with Mysteries Of Spiritual Awareness In Communities, MOSAIC, Inc. will hold a "Celebration of Families & Remembering Sun Yat-sen Festival".

This festival welcomes all families of the greater South Pasadena, San Gabriel, San Marino, Pasadena, Alhambra areas for a weekend celebration.

Our key note speaker will be Rev Dr. Jannah Scott from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Rev Dr. Jannah Scott serves on several national government committees to ensure inclusion of faith-based perspectives, including the White House National Security Council’s Community Partnerships Committee; National Engagement Task Force; DHS National Resilience Integration Committee; DHS Working Group on Countering Violent Extremism and Federal Emergency Agency (FEMA) Policy Committee.

On Saturday, June 7th, 9am to 9pm the day will be filled with food, live music, games, comedy, movies, workshops, historic tours and remembrances, along with a special family awards ceremony. All FREE for the community. Click here for a complete list of events.

A special remembrance of Sun Yat-Sen co-organized by World Kwong Tung Community Association 廣東同鄉會 includes guest speaker Robert K.H. Cup Choy, Historian of Sun Mei 孫眉 (elder brother to Sun); Leland Sun, great grandson to Sun Yat-Sen; Recordings of Sun Yat-Sen; Historic guided tours of where he visited and prayed on the grounds of Oneonta Congregational Church; Free Chinese Buffet; and Chinese musical performances

Then on Sunday June 8th 2014 at 9:30AM, Oneonta will lead a multi cultural service followed by a special community meet and greet fellowship lunch, provided free.
